Here is my script that we are going to use in the video.
Media convergence proposes many challenges to creative industries, most notably in journalism. Where due to advances in technology and advances in technology and demand for up to date news journalists are expected to work round the clock ; Tweeting, posting on Facebook and publishing Internet articles, which often compromises the quality of the news that is broadcasted.
In this Blog we will explore what Media Convergence is, and what the opportunities and challenges are to creative industries and also to society as a whole. We will do this through regular updates on what we have learnt, what books we have explored, the theroists we have researched into, as well as what developments we have made in our assignment.

Media Convergence Video
This is another creative way that i found people expressing media convergence, It uses chalk and paper cut outs. It is also very inforative and discusses a lot of things we have covered in lectures.

Sams Development
At our last group meeting we drew up a storyboard and decided exactly what we are going to do for our short film. By this I mean; when we are going to film, where we are gong to film and what we are going to film.
Although this is an advert for a Nokia mobile phone, I really like the way this advert is shot and how they have edited the clips in post-production. Much like this advert, we have decided to use shots of mobiles and other devices playing their own video, as well as extreme close-up's of the exchanging of money, typing and connecting of devices. This song; Ridum by Joe Driscoll, is also a great song to fit this 'funky' video.

Johns Development
I have been working on the challenges to creative industries and thought id share what I've been doing as i need some input as I'm a little short of words ? :)
Challenges to Creative Industries
Media Convergence provides obvious opportunities for creative industries to circulate and content and advertise although it also proposes many challenges for industries. This is most notably in Journalism and newsrooms.
“Multiple deadlines create no time constraints and is followed by concerns about how this affects the professionalism of the Journalists and the perceived quality of Journalism”
This suggests as there is need for up to date news on various platforms such as mobile apps and social networking sites, deadlines are tighter and this often compromises the quality of the news that is broadcasted. Journalists are also required to learn new methods of broadcasting information such as an informal Tweeting and Facebook posts. These informal broadcasting techniques are very different to traditional story and article writing methods and require a lot of skill and can be challenging to people in creative industries to adapt from especially when recently coming out of education.
Creative industries are constantly trying to reach the widest audience although have to be aware of social economically excluding certain audiences and social groups who cant access apps on smartphones and regular portable internet etc.
Therefore identifying the best advertising opportunities regular challenges creative industries.
“Good news sites require professional well trained reporters and department people who understand not only news but also the advertising needs.’’
This means that sometimes the audience isn’t able to consume the content. Therefore creative industries have to consider the exclusivity of their products and define a definitive target audience before producing content.
“The circulation of media content depends heavily of the audiences’ active participation”
Making sure the audience actively participates requires research and marketing, which isn’t always cost affective. Industries are often challenged to be unique and stand out from the competition. The industries also have to consider sacrifices to stay relevant as for many companies having content available on many different platform compromises their income, because of this companies like Sky News will let you read some content online for free but, often detailed stories and more information is only accessible with payments or subscriptions.
Sam Development- Presenation and my short Animation
Presentation
This week I have been taking my section of the essay and using it to form the basis of my part of the presentation. I did this by re-writing it in a presentation format, by picking out only the key factors of each point, so I can expand on each one through speech.
Video
I also thought I would upload my animation I created at GCSE Level so i can see which factors I would keep the same (if any), and which I would change in our video project.
We are not going to include as much stop-motion in our video as it would take far too long and the quality may be affected. I also feel that clay-mation would not work well for our video, as with media convergence we want it to look sharp and contemporary. I don't feel this could be achieved using clay.
However I do like the idea of having some music or soundtrack in our video, as it will make it more interesting and gives us something to edit our clips to in post-production.

Sam's Development- Research for Our Film
As we are going to produce a fun, modern and partly animated video on media convergence, I have started to research videos on YouTube which I hope will give us more inspiration.
I really like this animated video explaining media convergence, it includes many recent fact and figures, cleverly highlights the importance of convergence and is most importantly visually interesting.
I feel that this video has given me some great ideas for our own video, as I loved the way it had illustrations and images for every point given, as well as including small sized video clips within the video itself.
